UPOL Students Participated in STARS Winter School at University Roma Tre
Students of the Faculty of Law in the field of clinical legal education have another interesting international experience. In Rome they attended a winter school - S.T.A.R.S. Winter School - Skills Transfers in Academia: A Renewed Strategy - Enhancing Legal Clinics in the European Union. The event was part of the S.T.A.R.S. project, which is the first Erasmus+ project focused on legal clinics and of which PF UP is a strategic partner.
At the beginning of February, four law students - Matěj Cetkovský, Kateřina Galdová, Karolína Foukalová and Diana Urbášková - went to Roma Tre University. Everyone already has extensive experience working in legal clinics. "During the week, for example, we worked in internationally composed teams on cases from the local law clinic. We visited the International Institute for the Unification of Private International Law - UNIDROIT and we also attended a lecture focused on alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation, arbitration and the like," highlighted several points of the program Karolína Foukalová. In addition to Olomouc students, university students from Italy, Romania, Luxembourg, Kyrgyzstan and Laos took part in the winter school.
Olomouc students rated the opportunity to get to know the work and approach of colleagues from other countries and universities to common issues as the most beneficial. "Thanks to this, we realized again how well our faculty is doing not only in terms of the quality of legal clinics, but also in terms of the level and practical focus of teaching. For example, the final exam system is a great success in international comparison. And not to mention what a novelty it was for many, when we explained to them how to correctly apply the case law, "said Karolína Foukalová, a student of the 5th year, with a smile.
